    3. don't feel bad about not being able to find your grandfather's death record in the US... I have a photo of my grandmother sitting at her father's grave, and can't find a death cert or even the name of the cemetery (all that is on the back is Grampa Wilson's grave- helpful huh?)... however, do you do any work at your FHC (Family History Center)? I have not tried this yet, but people rave about something called AIS or Accelerated Index System. It is in the microfiche drawer and I have seen it at ours but as yet have not had time to investigate it... it is supposed to be an index of deaths in the whole US (I think some countries too but am not sure) so you can search by surname in an entire geographic area like New England or the south. People say they find all kinds of people there that they had no information on.... so if you go to your FHC ask them to explain it to you and maybe you can finally find his death cert. Has anyone on here used this and maybe could tell us about it?
