This CD, produced by the Family Histoy Dept. of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is designed for those who know basic information about their ancestors but now need to search original sources. The CD offers information on where to start, what to do, and how to access a variety of different records, plus a glossary of terms defining research and genealogical terms and more than 150 research guides. Also includes addresses of more that 1.000 major FHCs libraries and archives in the US, Canada, Australia, NZ the British Isles and Europe. Additionally it contains letter-writing guides(with German and French translations), blank forms and census worksheets, and maps for Ireland, England/Wales and Scotland. This CD (item # 50176) is available for $20 US postpaid. Requirements: Pentium processor, Windows 95 or Nt 4.0+, 8 MG RAM with 16 MG RAM recommended. 1851 BRITISH CENSUS CD (Item # 50096) $5 postpaid It is an index to the census records of Devon, Norfolk and Warwick (England ) counties only and contains about 1.5 million names, which were transcribed from original census returns. AUSTRALIAN VITAL RECORDS INDEX (item# 50095) is on four CDs ($20 postpaid) It is an index to records from New South Wales (1788-1888), Tasmania (1803-1899), Victoria (1837-1888) and Western Australia (1841-1905). It contains about 4.5 million records of vital records and an index reference that can be used to obtain a certificate from the state civil registration office. It DOES NOT include info from Queensland, South Australia and the Northern Territory. In Australia, this CD will be available only in Family History Centers due to contractural limitations. I do know that they plan to release more of these CDs for the remaning British counties and soon (maybe this fall) an index to ALL families in the 1880 US cnesus (currently only soundexed for families with chidlren under 10).
