I have recently researched my ancestors from the Isle of Man to Ireland. In Ireland they seem to have taken liberties with their rare name ALLEYNE and at least one changed to the much more common ALLEN! SAM ALLEYNE b.Golden Tipperary, d. 09 Feb 1815 Dublin IRE SAMUEL RICHARD ALLEYNE (son of SAM ALLEYNE) b.? d. Before 28 AUG 1823 Probably in1823. m. Jane QUIRK 12 SEP 1812 IOM Child RICHARD EDWARD ALLEYNE b.25 NOV 1815 ?Douglas IOM Master Mariner GEORGE ALLEN (by his own hand-written will!) also known as ALLEYNE. (possible son of SAM ALLEYNE) b.?1794 IRE d.1871 "Glenbower" Onchon Isle of Man Occ. Lt. H/P & Capt. 88th Foot. m. Catherine? The executor of GEORGE ALLEN'S will is his nephew RICHARD ALLEN b.07 MAR 1823 son of DAVID, and ANNE SMITH in 1871 RICHARD is a lawyer living in 5, Hatch St. Dublin IRE I would really like to sort out the relationships here as I am doubtful of the connection of GEORGE ALLEN. (found by a professional researcher in IOM! who states in other sources GEORGE is an ALLEYNE the sources were not given!) All the family still alive are ALLEYNE'S and there have not been any Davids, though Richard carries through to the present! I am waiting for a film of the Waterford Griffith's Valuation from the LDS but would appreciate any input. TIA Trish Harms Nelson BC Canada.
