William Power was my paternal grandfather. Anne Meany was his first wife and he married my grandmother when Anne died at age 38 years. I have been trying for many years to trace a descendant of this first marriage. Imagine my excitement when I recently saw that the first marriage and birth details of all 5 children of the first marriage were all recorded on the LDS Church website. There was a note in each case that the information was submitted after 1991 by a member of the LDS Church. I contacted the Church but their rules understandably prohibit them from giving me the contact details of the submitter or from passing on my contact details to the submitter. I hope that the submitter might be a member of this List and might now respond to me. Details of the family are given below. MARRIAGE. William Power (born 1843 per the LDS record but born 1845 per my family records) married Anne Meany (born 1845) at the RC Chapel of Trinity Without in Waterford on 7th September 1868. William was the son of Matthew Power, and Anne was the daughter of James Meany. The witnesses at the marriage were John Doyle and Mary Connors. Anne subsequently died at age 38 years on 1st November 1883. CHILDREN OF THE MARRIAGE [1] Mary Ellen Power born on 16th September 1869. She died an infant on 14th June 1872. [2] Matthew Power born on 15th April 1871. He married Jane Curtis on 10th April 1917. He died on 29th June 1942. I have he complete life history. He left no children. [3] James Power born on 13th September 1873. He died an infant on 6th October 1873. [4] Alice Power, twin of James Power, born on 13th September 1873. She died an infant in March 1874. Interestingly, the name was spelled "Alise" on the LDS Church record and this is also how it was spelled in a note that I possess that was handwritten by my grandfather at the time of her birth in 1873. [5] William Power born on 28th April 1875. He left home in Waterford on Sunday 8th June 1890 according to a note handwritten by my grandfather. I have no other documentary evidence about him but I have a number of family anecdotes. The family story is that he married. As three of the other siblings died as infants and the 4th left no children, and descendant of this first family of my grandfather must therefore be a descendant of this William Power. I would very much like to contact such a descendant. I hope that somebody on the List may recognise this family and contact me. Dr Con Power [born at Gracedieu East, Waterford]
