Hi everyone I am researching the McCarthy and Hankard Families of Tallow. I have James McCarthy, who married Brigid Hankard in the later 1800s, also Patrick Hankard and Mary McCarthy who were sponsors at the christening of Patrick McCarthy. I also have James and John or Jack, Molly, Maurice and Bridget McCarthy. James and Brigid lived in Barrack Street, Tallow, and their daughters Molly and Bridget lived there until their deaths in the 1970s. James Jnr, Patrick and John all left Ireland to live in the UK. Maurice was killed in an accident or died young - I am not sure. I would appreciate any information at all as to whether there are any surviving relatives of the families. I understand that possibly a brother of James McCarthy senior emigrated to the USA, with his cousin, maybe, where he worked in steel works perhaps in Philadelphia or Pennsylvania. James senior was a runner, but I don't know if he was a messenger or athlete. Patrick served in the Southern Irish Horse Brigade in the F! irst World War.
