I am trying to trace information about my grand-uncle, Henry Power, and hopefully his descendants, if any. I have pleasure in giving the small bit of information that I have about him. Date of birth: 16th April 1857 Parents: Michael Power and his wife, Margaret [nee Martin]. Michael Power was baptised in Ballybricken Church, Waterford on 19th August 1823 and his parents were William Power and his wife, Mary [nee Feeley]. Both Michael Power and his wife, Margaret, are buried in my family grave in Ballybricken Churchyard in Waterford and are named on the headstone but no dates are given for them and no dates are available in the Church records. Address at birth: Spring Garden Alley, Waterford, Ireland Baptism: Church of St John, Ballygunner, Waterford [Parish of St John] Sponsors at Baptism: John Martin and Honor Rourke and the priest was Rev P Nolan Siblings of Henry Power: Mary Ellen Power born 23rd March 1858 in England; Ellen Bridget Power born in Waterford on 14th April 1861 and Elizabeth Power born in Waterford on 11th August 1865. Ellen Bridget Power went to Australia, married Charles Henry Waters, and died on 16th September 1942. I have her complete life history. Elizabeth Power went to Australia, married Allan MacDougall, and died on 27th August 1937. I have her complete life history. Family Stories: Family tradition is that Henry Power went to either South Africa or Australia and was involved in gold mining. I have commissioned research in both South Africa and in Australia but to no avail. Family tradition is that he returned to Ireland at least for a visit in the 1910s or 1920s but I have no proof of this. Any information about this Henry Power would be much appreciated.
