    3. Hi there I'm trying to trace the roots of John BIRGIN who married MaryWELCH, August 6th 1815 at Manchester Cathedral, Lancashire, England. In an 1833 Directory there is James Bergin Fustian Cutter, 29 Ledger St, Salford In 1838 John Bergin, Fustian Cutter 10 Ledger St, Salford Good chance that James and John are either father & son or brothers, maybe cousins but related. In the 1851 census John BIRGIN living at 6 Ledger St, Salford John Bergin head/wid 63yrs fustion cutter b. Manchester James son 21yrs smith&farrier b Manchester William g/son 1 yr b Manchester John died at 6 Ledger Street, 1853 Being 63 in 1851 puts his birth year at approx 1788 somewhere in Ireland. Variations of the name seem to be BIRGIN, BERGIN, BERGEN, BERGHAN, BERGHEN, BERRIGAN, BURGAN, BURGEN, BURGIN and BURKAN. And possibly many others. Would be interested to hear from anybody with possible connections or suggestions of where to find his birth. many thanks Alexander
