My earliest ancestor was my great grandfather Martin Whalen and my great grandmother Ellen Power Whalen, They came over in about 1862-4. They came to Covington Town, NY. where Martin worked for a Major Brooks farming. I know the name of their parents but with names like Phelan or Whelan married to a Power in County Waterford, I am looking for a needle in a hay stack. Martin's mother Mary was a Power also. His father was John. Ellen's parents were Richard Power and maybe Helen Dunn. I got the names of her parents from a cousin on the Power side.
