    1. [WAT] Matthew Power, Waterford, Ireland
    2. Dr Con Power
    3. I am trying to trace information about my paternal great-grandfather but have failed to get much information despite a number of paid commissioned searches by Waterford Heritage Services. The following is all that I can get. [1] My paternal great-grandfather was Matthew Power from County Waterford, and his wife was Ellen, surname unknown to me. [2] Matthew Power was described as a labourer and his address was given as Corrignore, County Waterford, on the marriage certificate for my grandfather's first marriage on 7th September 1868. My grandfather, William Power, married Anne Meany in the Church of the Mast Holy Trinity Without, Ballybricken, Waterford City on 7th September 1868. [3] Matthew Power was described as a fisherman and his address was given as Crooke, County Waterford, on the marriage certificate of my grandfather's second marriage on 4th November 1884. My grandfather, William Power, married Mary Ellen Power in the Church of the Most Holy Trinity Without, Ballybricken, Waterford city on 4th November 1884 following the death of his first wife. I have no other documents in which my great-grandfather, Matthew Power, is mentioned. I cannot trace a birth record for my grandfather, William Power, despite have an exact date of birth 10th November 1846 [and the names of his parents - Matthew and Ellen Power] and despite having inspected both the 1901 and the 1911 Census records in both of which he is stated to have been born in County Waterford. At this stage, I think that my only hope may be to trace somebody who is also descended from Matthew Power or from one of his siblings. Any information will be much appreciated. Dr Con Power

    3. "[1] My paternal great-grandfather was Matthew Power from County Waterford, and his wife was Ellen, surname unknown to me." Have you tried looking through Griffith's Valuation for 1851 for Co. Waterford? Perhaps you will find the family through that source. They may have lived with his or her parents and you could find a link to another generation, or perhaps her maiden name? Amy
