Hi I am searching for any trace of my ancestor James Knapsey. He was born in 1823 and was transported to Tasmania in 1844 for stealing two watches. He was tried in Lincolnshire, But his native place is listed as Waterford, somewhere (I can't read the next word on his convict documents). Family legend has him as coming from England, Ireland or possibly Germany. The only Knapsey's I have found are all direct descendants of this man. I have found some Napsey's in USA and this gave me some hope that the name may be real.
