I am searching for ancestors KING and FITZGERALD who came from Waterford and Kilmacow Kilkenny (just across the border). James King married Anty (also possibly called Mary) Fitzgerald. They had Thomas, James, Margaret, Mary and Catherine. Thomas married Mary Donovan in Parish of Ballinarougery, Kilmacow 1829. Their son James bap Portlaw 1836 born Carrick Road where Mary (Thomas' mother) rented a house. Sister Margaret worked in the poorhouses in Waterford and was selected as a female famine orphan - aged 18 to come to Australia 1849/50. Thomas and Mary followed in 1854. I believe brother James went to Prince Edward Island abt 1846 or before.. Based on the info on Margaret as being an orphan, it is presumed the parents had both died, poss from the famine. Searching for any information on the Fitzgeralds and King families who remained in Waterford. Denise Pianta
