I am seeking information about Benjamin Morrison who had an address at 542 West 70th Street, Chicago, Illinois in the early 1900s. My reason for seeking this information is that Benjamin Morrison "claimed" my late uncle, Michael Christopher Power, when my uncle emigrated to the USA. My uncle left Cobh (then Queenstown), County Cork, Ireland, on 26th February 1911 on board the ship, SS Franconia. The ship arrived at Ellis Island on 7th March 1911. On arrival at Ellis Island, my uncle gave his last address in Ireland as 6 Emmet Place, Waterford. His next of kin was his father, William Power. My uncle, Michael Christopher Power, was 22 years old at the time[born in Waterford on 24th December 1888]. According to the ship's manifest, my uncle paid for his own transportation and he had $25 in cash. He gave his previous occupation in Ireland as "clerk". My uncle later changed his name to Powers by adding an "s" as was done by many of the Power surname when they went to the USA. Four of my uncle's sisters [my aunts] went to Australia and they were "claimed" by two of their aunts [my grand-aunts], both of whom were married and therefore used their married surnames. I suspect, but I have no proof, that this Benjamin Morrison, 542 West 70th Street, Chicago, Illinois, may have been married to a Power woman, an aunt of my uncle's and a sister of my grandfather. Alternatively, he may have been related to Michael Christopher Power in some other manner. That is the sort of link that I am seeking. I will be grateful for any information. Thanks. Dr Con Power
