A couple years ago I was at a church in the area looking at records in the rectory. My people were miners in Bunmahon and the church had our records. I will look in my voluminous files to see what the name of the church, believe it was in or near stradbally. Nancy
My gggrandfather, Denis Sullivan, was a copper miner in the Bunmahon/Knockmahon Area and the kids were Baptized, circa 1835--1844, in Kill Parish. In 1846 Baptisms were in Stradbally because mine employees were no longer supported in Kill or Newtown Parishes, and they went to Stradbally to get food during the famine. Our Lady of Mt.Carmel was Kill Village church at the time. If you find out more please let me know.
