Elaine, I'm always open to suggestions of wayward siblings. One such lost sibling finally provided the paper trail back to a townland! Obits sometime confirm the relationship. I'd also look to the US baptismal certs for immigrant siblings as godparents. I've also had parish priests misread the handwriting and give me two "Johanna's" in the birth records, only to find out 10 yrs later that one of them was a Jeremiah -- and, the same Jeremiah is still missing in the Co. Kerry free parish records. Only his marriage/death cert provide the connection. Finally, to the disbelief of my mom/aunts (lol), I've have found errors in the family tree created by the family "nuns." Kate in Chicago
