    3. Hi Janet I've now backtracked to my recently downloaded baptism records from the rootsireland website Wateford record set. Although the individual records are headed "Church Bapism Record", the actual parish given (at least the four RC records I've downloaded so far) is categorised as  "Parish/Distict"  ...... which doesn't really nail it - for the parish could still be either the ecclesiastical or civil parish! But if a search of the rootsireland websie is made via the "County Genealogy Centres" link (left side of the page) it then becomes possible to make a more detailed search - for a drop-down menu of actual parishes then becomes available. This dropdown menu gives a list of 40 parishes for Waterdord, listed in in alphabetical order, starting with "Abbeyside RC" and ending with "Trinity Without RC"  - but whether this list is of ecclesiastical parishes, civil parishes or a mixture, I can't tell. Would be gratefull if you had any thoughts on the list privided in the dropdown menu. If the record is a church record and was reported, as it should be from the RC or C of I parish, then, yes, the parish referenced should be the church parish. I think it was the way that Stuart's record was referenced that made me think civil parish for some reason. I have to go back and look at it again. The index that one looks at before asking for the record should be the clue as it should say church baptism/marriage or civil baptism/marriage. Until we are very sure what records we are going to be looking at for Waterford, we will have to note that index reference very carefully.
