    3. Hi Janet, Didn't see this before my prior post today. Oohh, I'd be thrilled if we could make any progress with this family. As in Waterford, here are the baptisms for each of the known children of James /PHELAN/WHELAN and Mary DALY. Until the records were discovered in Ireland, the name we always had/used for my grandmother was as WHALEN. While in Waterford, 2003, I ended up getting 2+ hours in the local registry office. I tried to extract anything re PHELAN/WHELAN/DALY in the limited time. The finds are in an Excel chart. Also visited Trinity Without and took photos of (and transcribed) headstones for both. Happy to share. Will continue off-list re Boston/Cambridge, MA items . . . . Rather, my aunt noted her mother's sister, Stella in a note and I found a Stella marriage (citing parents James WHALEN/Mary DALY as her parents), Boston, 1898. Certainly speculative, including her for now, while exploring. (I have a pic of the church from that time if anyone would like it-let me know).  Ellen Morrissey listed Yellow Road as her residence on her civil marriage record. Her parents were Michael Morrissey and Catherine nee Power. James and Ellen moved to the US an arrived on the Ivernia 28 Apr 1900. )I thought it was interesting that your Phelan's were in Cambridge. The ship manifest lists four people from Waterford-two were James and Ellen and one was a Dan Collins. It always looked to me like the person making the record came down the list with names and then headed back up the list when filling out the rest. Although it states that Dan Collins was headed for Cambridge it said my great grandparents were headed to Yonkers. I still wonder about that. Cambridge is very close to Somerville where my great grandparents settled.)   CARA:  I think it may have been my  message that you saw.  I have only the civil record for the marriage of James Phelan and Ellen Morrissey.  I posted that I would like to have the church record as I hoped it might have mothers names on it.  The civil record lists only fathers. MARTHA:  It might be useful to compare notes about our families. Perhaps we could do that between the two of us and then post any fruitful outcomes on the board rather than use the board for wonderings?  Either way is fine.  I think my James and Ellen probably headed for Cambridge as the ship manifest noted because they had relatives there.    Janet Phelan
