    1. [WATERFORD] Sheehan families of Kill, 1800-1865

    3. Hi! Have just joined this list as I have managed to track some of my wife¹s SHEEHAN ancestors from South Wales back to KILL in Co. Waterford between about 1824 and 1865. I have downloaded some baptisms from the new Waterford site on RootsIreland and its states on the record Parish/District = Kill. Is this the same as Kill St Lawrence and/or Kill St Nicholas because they don¹t seem to relate to the current location of Kill on my maps! If not then what ecclesiastical parish would Kill be part of? My Sheehan¹s arrived in Monmouthshire some time between 1863 and 1881 and were all employed as miners. I understand that some copper mining took place in the south of Co Waterford, so it may be they transferred their skills to South Wales when the opportunity arose. I would be interested to know if anyone else has any Sheehan and/or Doocy records from Kill pre-1860s. I¹m happy to post what little info I have on the five people I have identified so far. Regards, Stuart Stuart Phethean Hampshire, UK http://www.phethean.org.uk

    3. I have probably just answered part of my own question - Kill Town, part of the civil parish of Kilbarrymeaden! But which ecclesiastical parish and where would the RC church have been located around 1820-1860?
