Sorry. Catholic and they immigrated around 1850. I have baptismal certificates for 11 of 13 of Michael Hally b (about 1790) and Catherine English's (b about 1800) children starting in 1816 and ending in 1834, all in Newcastle Parish, Aughavanlomaun Townland. But there were two children I can not find, Patrick and William. William is said to have remained in Ireland. But they were very close to Mt Mellerary and I know that the Powers lived near there. Michael Power married Ellen Hally b 1816 - they emigrated to NY and then to WI by 1855. I am thinking that perhaps some of the others who married into were from the Mt Mellerary area and am just trying to see if there is anything to my conjecture. It is difficult to know exactly how much information to include in a query and not have too much. We visited Mt Mellerary as well as the church in Newcastle and met a number of people in the area. There is an old cottage ruin between Mt Mellerary and the Co Tipperary border that is called "Hally's Garden". It is likely an ancestor's spot, but I am not sure that I can prove it. There are a number of Hally's listed in Griffith's Valuation.
