I don't know if any of you have been following the news on the volcano in Iceland that has already erupted. There is a far bigger and more dangerous one that the scientists believe will erupt soon now and has the capacity to throw out far more ash. When it erupted in 1783 it caused a year's famine in Europe that precipitated the French Revolution. In light of this, I have asked Aggi-Rose Reddin to be my admin back-up in case the satellite signal cannot for some reason get through the ash to me and I am off-line. I asked Aggi-Rose because she is NOT in Ireland and the wind would be blowing ash away from her direction and because she is a long time member of the list. She's intelligent, fair and has a sense of humor but can be tough, and she really knows a lot about genealogy and DNA genealogy. In case you can't get a message through to me, you can always reach Aggi-Rose by sending a message to the Administrator from the list's Home Page. Cross your fingers Katla goes back to sleep. If I am ashed, be sweet to Aggi-Rose. Janet
Dear List, My Hally, etc ancestors came from the Aughavanlomaun area according to baptismal records from Newcastle Parish in southern Tipperary. But Aughavanlomaun is so close to the Waterford border that I wonder if the border ever changed or at least became indistinct as to where someone lived. The reason I ask is that sometimes I run across something that indicates something Waterford. Did tenant farmers move or stay in the same place for years? They emigrated about 1847-1851 to the US. Thanks, Sandra Hawley
