The media don't seem to be much on this story yet, but reports and tweets from New Zealand say that there is awful damage to the infrastructure of Christchurch - water, sewage, electric, etc all damaged. Ten people taken safely out of a hole that developed. Luckily no reports of fatalities so far, but many injuries. Port is severely damaged. Many buildings have fallen or lost a story. It is just getting light there, so more may be coming out but the back-up generators probably have less than an hour of life left at this point. Janet
