Michael CAVANAGH was born in Cappoquin in 1820, was involved in the 1849 rebellion, went on the run and left Ireland for USA. He became a prolific writer and died in 1900 and is buried in New York. He published a book on General Thomas francis Meagher in 1892. The Michael cavanagh society, based in Cappoquin have published a book bringing together some of Cavanagh's writings and the Book is being launched in the Cavanagh Hall, Cappoquin on next saturday night. regards, Tony Mc Carthy -- Tony Mc Carthy
I would love to be there seeing as Thomas Meagher is high on my lists of people I love to read about and research, I would be interested to know if you have acess to this book if it mentions his time in Tasmania at all and the girl he married and the child they left behind in a little grave.
