    3. In September 1997 I visited Tramore, the birthplace of my grandfather, John McGrath, born March 27, 1863. In the spring of 1997 I had contacted Star of the Sea Church there for information and received the name of a gentleman who was an enormous help. He even brought me to my great-grandfather's land. Please contact me at ebulger1@nycap.rr.com for more information. Tramore is a small seaside resort town, south of the City of Waterford, used for vacation by the Irish. I don't think tour buses go there. They had a Ferris Wheel, etc., and a few arcades and the beach. Just south are some lovely cliffs, not huge but interesting to see. Holy Cross, Tramore and Carbally church. However all records are held in Tramore. Waterford City Library holds on microfilm the same records as those in the National Library. www.waterfordcity.ie/library/localstudies.htm Waterford Heritage Genealogy Centre, - www.iol.ie/~mnoc/ holds records of baptisms 1798-1911 and marriages 1785 - 1911. Commissioned research only. Drumcannon graveyard also has Catholic burials. The last burial in Drumcannon was in the early 1960's. It was used rarely in the previous 40 years. Gravestone inscriptions for Drumcannon can be found at Waterford County Library website. www.waterfordcountylibrary.ie/en/familyhistory/ Also Griffiths Valuation and death register 1864 - 1901. Some baptism and marriage records for Tramore and Carbally can be found at www.celticcousins.net/ireland/miscrecs3.htm There are some extracts from the 1851 census for Tramore available at www.igp-web.com/waterford/index.htm Noel Please double-check subject line & snip your messages when replying.
