    3. I have just uploaded 145 images of headstones from Faithlegg Cemetery, Cheekpoint, Waterford. The family of Thomas Francis MEAGHER is buried here (32). See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Francis_Meagher Also No.31 This stone was erected by | MARY DINN of Passage | as a mark of her burial ground and in memory | of her father NICHOLAS, her mother HONORA, her | brother MARTIN, her sisters and | particularly of her brother WILLIAM DINN | alias DOYLE, who sailed round the Globe | with Captr COOK, and was present at the death | of that great Circumnavigator at Owhyhee. | and who died respected and regretted at Stoke | near Devonport in England, in June 1840 | having spent a long life as a Warrant Officer | in the Services of his Country. | “May they Rest in Peace. Amen”. (N.B. “Resolution muster on Cook’s Third Voyage”, a WILLIAM DOYLE (138) can be found listed. He joined 16 May 1776, served as AB Boatswain’s Mate from 28 May 1776, born Waterford 1756. He was punished two times - on 10 September 1777 for ‘neglect of duty’ and on 29 September 1777 for ‘hitting a native’.) 3. Cheryl, I'm not sure if you're ready for paid research but Waterford Heritage Centre did a great job with all my Waterford ancestors. I also used them for Tipp. because the parish was in the diocese of Waterford-Lismore and they did a great job there. Compared to some they are reasonable because they did a whole family search. Helen, On cold, sunny, Cape Cod -----Original Message----- From: waterford-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:waterford-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of cdynan@rcn.com Sent: Wednesday, January 27, 2010 11:46 AM To: waterford@rootsweb.com Subject: [WATERFORD] CROWLEY, Margaret b. Lismore Hi all, I have been on this list for years but my research seems to have come to a dead end and I have not written in to the list in a long while. My great grandmother Margaret Crowley was born on Main St. Lismore in 1868, daughter of Michael Crowley and Ellen Keily. I have found 7 siblings. Bridget never married is in a family cemetery plot here in Boston Massachusetts. Catherine (Kate) came over with her and stayed in NY. I think I see her unmarried in NY on the 1930 census. Theresa came to my great grandmothers (I found this info on a ship manifest)but moved to NY. In the 1930 census I believe I find her as an inpatient in a Mental hospital in Westchester County NY. Siblngs Michael, Ellen, Carthage and Peter are listed on the headstone outside the RC church in Lismore. A very kind gentleman took pictures for me several years ago. The parents Margaret married before 1864. Where would be the best place go for a chuch record? My great uncle told me that my great great grandfather ran a small hotel and was a farmer. Where would be the best place to research this from Boston? I wrote the county library about 2 years ago, asking about how to research hotel owners in Lismore. I got a response saying they would research this for me but never heard again. Any suggestions would be appreciated. 3. Hello Cara Is HEARNE part of your family? My GG Grandmother was FANNY HEARNE born 1847 in Waterford. She married WILLIAM DONNELLY in 1874. FANNY (HEARNE) DONNELLY died on 14 February 1884 in Waterford. WILLIAM DONNELLY died in 1910 I think. Their daughter MARY ELLEN DONNELLY born 1875 in Waterford married JAMES HIGGINS in Prescot Lancashire England and Mary Ellen died in Liverpool England in 1923. I know some of the DONNELLY's from Passage East are buried in BALLYGUNNER. Do you have a list of who is buried in BALLYGUNNER CEMETERY? 1. Re: [WATERFORD] Roll Call: Hally, Powers
    2. I, too, hope I am not too late for the roll call. So far, researching my Irish side of the family has been very frustrating. My great grandfather was Thomas Hally (changed in the US to Holly/Hawley) who was born in Co. Waterford around 1842, we think. As far as we know, his father was also named Thomas and mother Margaret McGrath. In Springfield, IL on July 4, 1857, the younger Thomas married Ann Foley, B 1842, who was from Dungarvan, Waterford. So far, I have not been able to find a definite town of origin or ship records. Thomas Hally and Margaret McGrath's other children (that we know of) were: Michael (b-1845) who settled in the upper peninsula of Michigan Bridget (b-1850?) who married Maurice Murray in Springfield Jeremiah (b-22 OCT 1852) Patrick David A couple of years ago, I contacted two separate groups in Ireland to have some research done. One came up with a possible place of origin as Ballybricken. The other researchers found some possible records in Newcastle parish. The latter said they couldn't locate a place of residence but that there was a holding in the name of Thomas Hally in the townland of Aughavanlomaun. They found baptisms for a Michael, Patrick and David and also listed a child Norry, but did not find baptism records for Jeremiah or my ggrandfather Thomas. >From Griffiths, I do know that there were Hallys around Ring. At this point, though, I am totally at a loss of how to proceed. Most of my research thus far has been in Germany where the records are much more intact. Any help is greatly appreciated. 3. Good Morning List I am hoping someone can assist me with my family from Villierstown Waterford. My 2 x great grandmother was Maggie (Margaret) Daly born 21 Nov 1879 in Villierstown Dungarvan Waterford to James Daly and Catherine nee Kiely. Maggie married Albert Killick in Croydon SRY UK, still not sure how or why she was in the UK (another look into). I have been trying to trace details for the Daly's and Kiely's in Waterford IRL and I think I have their marriage certificate but it is for James Dawley and Catherine Kiely both from Villierstown James father is listed as Martine Dawley and Catherines is John Kiely so my first question would be is Dawley a common variation to the surnname Daly is it how it is pronounced that would be thought to be one and the same? I then think that I have James Daly death certificate which is spelt Daly with Kate (wife) present so Kate and Catherine is ok. If anyone can advise help and point me in the right direction to getting the details I would be most appreciated. Regards Leanne Perth West Australia

    3. Hope I'm not too late for the roll call. Michael Hally married Catherine English and lived in Aughvanlomaun or Boolahallagh just north of Mt. Melleray. There was also an old Hally farm in Cty Waterford near Mt Melleray. Michael & Catherine's daughter Ellen (bap 23 Oct 1816) married Michael Patrick Powers in Ireland. Their first son was born about 1839 in Ireland but I don't know if it was Cty Waterford or Cty Tipperary. All of them emigrated between 1847-1851 to Wisconsin via NY. Ellen and Michael Patrick Powers had a son, John Powers, who remained behind with family near Mt Melleray Abbey when they emigrated but John came over later. Looking for information on when they emigrated and through which port. Sandra Hawley
