    3. >From Kilmacthomas, Co Waterford my Dennis Sullivan and wife Catherine Flynn entered the U.S. at New Orleans in 1847, traveled to Galena,Illinois/Benton, Lafayette Co, Wisconsin, then on to Hillsborough, WI. where they farmed trough 1930. Could a branch associated with my family, the Sullivan/Flynn, Sheas, have gone to Kentucky? Possible, but there are many with like Irish names. It is also interesting that Many Irish entered U,S. trough New Orleans, and Texas, about 1847. 1. [WATERFORD] Admin message- snipping
    2. Janet Crawford
    3. Hi folks, we need to remember to snip replies to messages and just keep what is necessary for the reply. We are getting messages miles long. The biggest problem with that is that is someone is searching "Flynn" all of the previous messages will keep coming up as they are on every new message. Snipping is a good thing. Janet

    3. The media don't seem to be much on this story yet, but reports and tweets from New Zealand say that there is awful damage to the infrastructure of Christchurch - water, sewage, electric, etc all damaged. Ten people taken safely out of a hole that developed. Luckily no reports of fatalities so far, but many injuries. Port is severely damaged. Many buildings have fallen or lost a story. It is just getting light there, so more may be coming out but the back-up generators probably have less than an hour of life left at this point. Janet

    3. I understand that an estimated 7.0 - 7.4 magnitude earthquake has hit New Zealand's second largest city, Christchurch. It seems that there has been quite a bit of damage. We have many people on the lists that are in New Zealand and I want to extend our deepest concern for all the people there. Janet

    1. [WATERFORD] WADDY ROCHE
    2. Bette
    3. Has anyone come across information on a Kate/Catherine WADDY? Her birth date is unknown - probably between 1860 and 1875. She states on her marriage record, and on the 1901 Dublin census, that she was born in Wexford. Ireland's civil birth records have been searched more than once and her birth can not be found. Her father's name was Luke WADDY and he was a harness maker. Her mother is unknown - BUT, a Luke WADDY, harness maker, married a Mary ROCHE. This Mary ROCHE died in 1871. Contacts state she was 18 years older than Luke, which would make Mary's birth around 1806. She would have been too old to be the mother of the Kate/Catherine WADDY I am looking for. This Luke WADDY was born about 1824, therefore, he very well could have been Kate/Catherine WADDY's father. During the 1890's Kate/Catherine WADDY was employed as a nanny in Waterford. By 1900 she had moved on to Dublin. Thank you for any help/advice you can pass on to me, Bette

These people are a John WILLIAMS who has been described as an Artillery Officer and Gardener and his wife Susanna BOWLES who would have married about 1822. All records found in Oz indicate that the family came from Clonmel and I have documents showing that three daughters definitely came from Clonmel. Surviving children from the marriage were Elizabeth, Margaret, Ann, John and Thomas Bowles WILLIAMS. Susanna BOWLES' parents were Thomas and Mary (SIMPSON) but I do not have any idea as to the parents of John WILLIAMS. I have located what appear to be burials for these at St Mary's C of I, Clonmel. Their ages at death indicate that Thomas was born abt 1763 and Mary three years later. Mary died in 1833 and Thomas in 1841. If John was an Artillery Officer then he may not have come from Clonmel, or Ireland for that matter, and was part of the Military Garrison there. This is all so new to me, for years I researched my family line without an Irish connection and then suddenly I was confronted by not only this WILLIAMS family but also another separate line from Co Armagh. Needless to say my research and geography knowledge of Ireland needed to improve rather rapidly. Hoping that someone my be able to assist in finding the marriage and origins of the above people. Thanks, Bill Iggleden Melbourne, Oz -- Maybe we have so long ridiculed authority in the family and discipline in education and decency in conduct and law in the state that the freedom we fought so hard for has brought us close to chaos. 1. [WATERFORD] Off-Topic the tunnel is open
    2. Janet Crawford
    3. The tunnel under the Shannon is now open making the trip from Shannon airport or to Shannon airport much easier as we no longer have to negotiate through Limerick City. It is also going to make a trip into Limerick City much more pleasurable as much of the traffic is now going to be going on the by-pass. The government expects that 14,000 and eventually 25,000 vehicles will no longer be on Limerick City streets. Janet
