Hello Listers, I am new to the list and just beginning the quest for my McDivitt /McDevitts of the Spokane area so-o-o, as you can imagine I need everything :-) particularly advice. I know there was a branch of the family in Spokane in 1937 as my mother was living with a great aunt ( though I believe more likely a dughter of a great uncle) while she went to nurse's training at Sacred Heart. I have found info that suggests this may have been a John McDivitt ( m. Mary Toomey ) who was there . They had (at least) these children; John--Archibald--Jennie and Emily It may also have been Thomas McDivitt of which nothing further is known.Possibly both Thomas & John. Thomas was described in a family bio of 1895 as " a lumberman in Washington State " John and family disappeared from the Wisc. censuses after 1890. I do know that the McDevitts owned properties in Spokane and whoever they were---the "great aunt" took my mother, one Sunday to a cemetary and showed her the family crypts. You can about imagine how much of an impression this made on a young, fun loving Irish girl at the time. The McD's went Ireland> Quebec>Ontario> Wisconson and then branched to North Dakota, Montana and Washington. Any direction--advice--help would be greatly appreciated. Maureen
