Truax and his wife Mary Ann along with their children came to the town in 1883 from Hastings, Dakota County Minnesota. They joined Daniel's brother Geroge W.C. and Richard Truax who had settled on homesteads near Farmington in 1870. Daniel was a partner in a general store called the George D. Brown Mercantile Co. and established the first post office in Tekoa. His wife, Mary Ann Anderson of Edinburgh, Scotland, he married sometime after 1892. She had come to the area originally to visit her brothers Alex, Tom and Bill Anderson. I got this information from a book called, "The Tekoa Story" published in 1962. I know Tekoa has a little museum and they have a copy of this book there. Hope this might help. Kris
