    3. Dear Editor: This may seem like a trivial sort of comment/complaint and you are surely not the one who can deal with it directly.. but ... since it is your "publication" that advertises these "site registrations", perhaps you can effectuate some changes in the rules governing them. It has repeatedly been my experience that "New Webpages at RootsWeb" get advertised, but then never show up. The most recent example is: dadadadah...caetcdar. You say: "Some of these pages might not yet be accessible. They are created by volunteers, so if one that interests you isn't up yet, please check again in a few days or next week." Yes, well, next week has come and gone and still the sites do not appear. What are we seeing here? Cybersquatting, where affilliated organizations claim space for an address that they have no immediate intention of utilizing? And/or neglect on the Webmaster's part: i.e. a failure to let us all know after a reasonable time that the "registered" Webpage has not been established? Aren't you in the business of serving the genealogy community? In which case you must understand that knowledge of the absence/inavailability of information is often as important as knowledge of its existence/availability. Why is there no time limit on the activation of RootsWeb-hosted Webpages? If there is such a limit, why are we not informed with the same enthusiasm of the failure of an individual/group to activate their page as that which accompanies their "registration" of the page. We all understand that this is a commercial undertaking and that, therefore, Arthur Andersen-style, images of growth must prevail, but shouldn't we all recognize that in a post-Arthur Andersen world, truth in accounting for all assets is essential?
