Julie, it's possible John TOYCEN died a Catholic or is buried in a Catholic cemetery. However, his Norwegian background was Lutheran. If you can find where Ben NELSON (born Bersvend NILSEN) and his wife, Julia (TOYCEN), are buried, it is likely that John may be nearby. I just haven't been able to locate their resting place or definitive death dates. (See my May 2006 Spokane posting). Thank you for your interest and effort!
