I posted this many years ago, but I see that it's not archived at rootsweb, so I'm posting it again. This is not my family, but my great aunt was their bookkeeper, so someone in the family clipped it. Spokesman Review, Spokane, Washington (no date): "Two Score Years of Happiness". Mr. and Mrs. Doerr Celebrate Fortieth Anniversary--Here 27 Years. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Doerr, Jefferson apartments, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversay Sunday at the home of the son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mr. E.A. Egge. Mr. and Mrs. Doerr, who have been residents of Spokane for 27 years, were married February 15, 1885, at New York city and went to Germany, their native country, on a honeymoon. "The joys of married life far out-balance the troubles in this everyday span of life," said Mr. Doerr, who was one of the pioneer electrical contactors in Spokkane. "I want to work as long as I'm able, for there is mischief sometimes for idle hands, but this is not so pronounced in those who have passed the 60-year mark as it is among younger people." Mrs. Doerr is shown, holding a granddaughter, Betty Jane Egge, age 1 year, whose birthday is also February 15. (includes photo of Mr. Doerr and one of Mrs. Doerr with Betty)
