Alois Reiter was my great-great-grandfather. Family legend has it he went up to Alaska with his friend, name I assume was Charvat. Alois left the friend in Alaska, came back to Washington and married the friend's wife Christina (or Christiana). They settled in Deer Park, where someone once told me "there are more Reiters than gophers." There's some dispute as to whether Alois and Christina were legitimately married when their first child, Louis, was born. As my grandfather Howard (Louis and Edith's son) said, "If Alois and Christina weren't married when Louie was born, then all the Reiters [descending from Louis) are bastards."
