LaVerne, 82, will be from noon to 8pm Friday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Service is set for 10 am Saturday at Pines Cemetery Mausoleum. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery. Mrs. LaVerne, who was born in Colfax, Wash., died Sunday. In 1941, she married F.L. "Slim" LaVerne in Colfax Mrs. LaVerne worked as a waitress until 1949 and then ran the Colfax Taxi and Ambulance from 1949 to 1956. She also owned and operated Anderson's Bakery from 1960 to 1973 and managed the Siesta Motel in Colfax until 1989 when she retired to Spokane. Mrs. LaVerne was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Colfax. Her husband died in 1993. She is survived by two sons, Gary LaVerne of Spokane and Ron LaVerne of Colfax; a brother, Albert Koenig of Colfax; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
