You may have all of this, I didn't and needed it for research. It strongly appears Matthew was married twice. First, to an Anastasia/Stacie/Stacia, who may have divorced and lived past the date of Matthew's second marriage. From my other posting, I'd suggest you request the obits for all of the persons identified below. If you have more information on the individuals, you should post that. Since you indicated your grandmother had died, you probably should identify if she is one of the listed family members. The 1900 Census for Chicago, Cook Co, IL, enumerated 2 June. Matt, born Feb 1865, born in IL to both parents born in Ireland, carpenter, renting at 4752 S. Center. Anna, born Jan 1870, mother of 3/3 living, born in IL to both parents born in Ireland. Edward, born April 1886 in IL Kate, Feb 1890 in IL Anna, March 1892 in IL The 1910 Census for Spokane, Spokane Co, WA, enumerated 21 April. Matthew J Powers, 52(1858), born in Missouri to both parents born in Ireland, second marriage. Special Policeman, renting at E308 Euclid. Annie, wife, 39, born in Illinois to father born in Missouri, mother in Illinois, mother of 1/1 living. first marriage. Marie, age 5, born in Illinois (would be daughter of Marie and Matthew) Edward M, son, 24, born in Missouri (son of Matthew and first wife ? ) Anna, 18, born in Missouri (dau of Matthew and first wife ? ) The 1920 Census for Spokane, enumerated 6 Jan. Powers married Philip Grant Holgren on 29 Nov 1930 in Spokane. Witnesses were Paul O'Rourke, and Marie E. Kelly. Image of certificate online. --Philip Holgren, born 6/3/1903, died 1/1976 in Spokane. --Marie P. Holgren, born 13 Dec 1904, died 2 Dec 1996 in Spokane. In 1993, she was living at 9304 N. Jefferson, Spokane. --A family tree owned by "Kevinjones16_1" showed they had two daughters and one son. I sent a message through the system for him to read this thread. He had not logged into the system for six months. He "should" get message notification on his email address also. The tree did not show siblings of Marie. --The obit for Philip's mother, Mabel, was found in the 2 April 1973 edition of the Daily Inter Lake (Kalispell, MT). Washington Digital Archives: Katherine Agnes Powers married Joseph Robert Young on 8 October 1908 in Spokane. Katherine, age 18, was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Matthew J. Powers, born in Ireland; and, "Anastasia", born in Ireland. Joseph, age 27(1880/1881), was born in Bolliver, Missouri. He was a fireman. Witnesses were Edward M. B...iero? and Ann C/L? Powers. --The 1920 Census for Spokane, owning at 5812 N. Monroe Joseph Robert Young, 39(1880/1881), born in Missouri, stationery engineer. Catherine A, 29, born in Missouri to both parents born in Ireland Joseph Alferd(as written), age 9, WA Edward Matthew, 7, WA Frances Agnes, 5, WA --The Social Security Death Index has a Catherine Young, born 3 March 1890, died November 1968, SSN 539-16-1958, issued in Washington. Her "last residence" was in Pasadena, CA. NOTE: The "last residence" on the SSDI is NOT always where a person actually lived. An Edward M. Powers died 15 June 1952, age 66, no additional information. The Washington Death Certificate Index has Edward Matthew Powers, died 15 June 1952 in Seattle, age 66, father Matthew Powers, mother Anastasia Hickey. --A family tree has Anastasia Hickey, born about 1866 in Illinois, dau of David Hickey (12 May 1833 in Ireland, died 12 Nov 1903 in Springfield, IL) and Elizabeth Trihey (born about 1835 in Ireland). No spouse or children is found in the tree. In the 1880 census for Springfield, Anastasia was identified as "Stacia." --The 1900 Census has Anastasia Hickey, single, living with David and Elizabeth --The IL death index has an Anastasia Hickey death on 6/15/1934 in Springfield, no age identified.
