Thanks for all your work. I do not think I have ever posted to a site where I have gotten so much help as I have this. Charles Hansen did provide me with some answers some time back and he found the obit for Clarence Ray Willis in the Spokesman Review 10-13-1973 pg. 20. Clarence was the father of Glayds. Her brother Albert Ray Willis ended up in Lompoc,California after serving a stint in the military. Glady's mother was Florence Edna Newingham. The 1930 census you mentioned is my Gladys. Her father was born in Kansas and her mother born in Illinois. In Clarence's obit it states Ruth Foust, Cheney, Washington , 10 grandchildren and 29 great. One day I called Albert's son, named William . He was not too friendly but did say Galdys had a passel of kids, so 9 children sounds like a passel to me. Thanks for all you have done to help. It certainly gives me hope that one day I will find out who the children are and perhaps I will be able to connect to at least one of them. Thanks again and God Bless You and Yours Jeanette Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Foust, born 17 June 1940, died 16 Nov 2007 in Cashmere, Chelan Co. --His Death Certificate was online www.digitalarchives.wa.gov He was John, also known as Jack, born in Bonners Ferry, ID, to John L. Foust and Rita C. Litalien. His wife was Judy. The WA Death Certificate Index: Aaron Mcadams and Gladys Ruth Willis shown as parents of Infant Mcadams, death on 27 Oct 1945 in Spokane, age 18 hours, 24 minutes. An Aaron Beatty Mcadams died 31 Dec 1970 in Pampa, Gray County, Texas, father John T. Mcadams, spouse Pinkney Beatty. --1910 Census showed he was born about 1902 in Alabama. ---The 1930 Census showed he was living in Dallas, TX. Gladys was living with him, also "May Belle(?)" age 2, born in Kansas. Gladys was 21, first married age 18 (1926/1927), she was born in Kansas to father born in Kansas, mother in Illinois --The 1925 Kansas State Census showed Aaron McAdams living in Wichita, Sedgwick County, KS. Living with widowed mother Pinkney, Divorced sister Virgieline 26, sister Carrie 19, brother Orville 24. So, it appears from the records Aaron was Glady's first husband. If Aaron died in Texas, was he visiting family or had he and Gladys separated? I couldn't find enough on a Jack/John Foust for even a possible connection. If he was married to her, it could have been very short. There were other Jack/John Fousts in the WA Death Index 1940-1996, but he "could" have died later, out of state, or wasn't in the death index. Since Mr. Hansen found Gladys in the City Directories as living alone in 1983, she probably wasn't married then. If you have any additional on this Jack Foust, post it, that might help. Otherwise, a volunteer in Spokane could use the city directories and go back in time to see if Gladys was or was not married to one. Go back to the time that she was a McAdams, married to Aaron. The 1945 birth of a child shows Gladys was living in Spokane at that time. That leads to "speculation" she lived there until her death. So, she "probably" married this Jack/John Foust in Spokane. However, there was no waiting period in Idaho, so they could have slipped across the border. Of course, they could have married in any place. Once she is found with Jack in a city directory, hopefully the previous year was a McAdams, that should give an good idea of the year of marriage. If the marriage was short, and they divorced, there could be a record in the Spokane County Superior Court. Court Clerks are mandated to maintain court case archives. Or, she might have never obtained a dissolution decree. There are four volunteers on the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness in Spokane County. Two do public record searches. READ the GUIDELINES first. http://www.raogk.org/washingt4.htm Hopefully, the owner of the family tree will read this thread and help you. Author: RBestrom7380 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.washington.counties.spokane/5775.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I looked on ProQuest, no obit was found. There might not have been an obit if he had no family members in the area to pay for one. Or, he hadn't been living in the area for long. There are often many reasons for no obituary. Or, ProQuest just didn't have it. The Jack C. Foust found in the Social Security Death Index carried a Social Security Card issued in Kansas before 1951. The "last residence" on the SSDI is not always where a person actually resided. It is sometimes where a final benefit (the death benefit) was sent. A family tree posted on Ancestry.com by "SeaMoon56" identified this person as Jack Cooper Foust, son of Edmond Cooper Lentz and Clara Mae Scott. He was born in Springfield, Missouri. He married Idamay Virginia Hunt in 1935. he married "Living" Plamer in Kansas in 1942. Idamay died in 1985 A family tree posted by "MrsKristen" identified the same birth/death dates, and, same parent information. Another tree posted by "Gabgolly" showed much of the same information, identified marriage to Beulah Lorraine Palmer, with whom he had six children. He had three with Idamay. ---While there were 7 trees, by 4 different people, they "could" have had the wrong information; but that doesn't appear to be the case. There was a Gladys Foust, born 4 April 1909, died Nov 1983 in Spokane, per the SSDI. But, I don't have a clue where your Gladys may have lived, etc. --I found another posting where you searched for an obit of hers in Spokane, death date 11/9/1983. CMHansen could not find an obit for her. Her father was Clarence Ray Willis, died 10/10/1973. His obit identified daughter Ruth Foust survived him, but the posting does not say where they were living at the time of Clarence Willis's death. Nor does it identify the spouse name of Ruth. A family tree of "AKmalover11" had a photo of Gladys, born/death dates the same. It identified a spouse Aaron Beatty McAdams, born 1902, and 9 children. All except two identified as "Living." Bub Clarence Sydney McAdams, 1934 to 5/13/2009 was one of the children. The tree also identified a marriage to a Jack Foust, no further information. I couldn't find an obit for Clarence either. I sent a message to "AKMalover11" via the system to read this thread and help if possible. It all depends on how soon the message is found. So, from this point of view as presented in this tree, Gladys was married at one time to a Jack Foust, but the children belonged to a McAdams. Hopefully this person will post an answer. What do you know about this person, do you have her date of birth, place of birth. If you know the names of her parents, that might help. But, the date/place of birth of your father would be helpful, as it appears he could be found in the US Census of 1930 and before. Knowing enough information about the siblings/parents, even Bernice could help. I did some initial searches but could not find a Bernice Elgin after the census. There were 353 Bernice Baker in the 1930 Census, 118 in the 1910. There were 71 Clifton Baker in the 1930 Census, 38 in the 1900 Census. Since Baker is such a common name, much more information is needed. "Jenny" Baker died 1930; but was this her name at death, or did she have a married name? Do you know Bernice's husband's name, or any information on him? Where they married, etc. Ron Bestrom Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
