Where was Richard Woodruff born. Where was Donna Woodruff born. Where was Ida May Fox born and where did she die. I found four different Thomas Fox's living in Spokane County but none of them have a wife named Myrtle and a child named Ida. If you have any infomation or idea of where these people were born, I might be able to find them. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He was both a fine physician and a fine individual. Our relationship was on a professional level, although I came to regard him as a friend as well. He and his wife, Rheva Reed Myhre, were insured with the company I worked for then, and I had occasion to handle a few claims for them. I recall in the late '60s or early '70s Dr. Myhre bought a new car. I am a bit fuzzy on the precise details; but if not on the very day he took delivery, then at least within a day or two afterward, the car was totaled in an accident. I seem to recall that a slow moving train was also involved. Thankfully Dr. Myhre was alone in the car and escaped unhurt. I don't recall the make of the car, but in a few days we had him back in another one just like it. Not long after that he had to quit driving for health reasons. He was a good man and a favorite of my colleagues and me among the many doctors we worked with regularly. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The address for Beatrice Bakken came from her sister Emmaletta's 1937 will that I got a few weeks ago, so it is a "real" address. Henry Nov 1899 in Spokane (WA Birth Index shows 6 Oct 1899) I could not find Henry in 1910. I found someone in the 1930 Census in California, single, that "might" be him, but not enough to prove, nor is that your quest. You identified Marietta later married Plonske: The 1910 Census for Chester, Spokane County, WA A. Plonske, age 30, born in Wisconsin to both parents born in Germany, farmer/renting, first marriage/7 years. Marietta, 31, born in Montana to both parents born in Unknown, second marriage, mother of 5/5 living. George, V, age 10 born in Washington Fay 6, born in Idaho Britta 4, born in WA Evelin, 2, born in WA. --It "appears" based on the marriage of 7 years, Fay being 6, born in Idaho, that the marriage to Henry ended by death/divorce/etc. some point between the 1900 census and about 1902. It ended "possibly" in Idaho but no proof, or Marietta followed Mr. Plonske there before Fay's birth. --But, in this census Beatrice is not shown. Marietta shows mother of 5/5 living, but only 4 in the household. So, is Beatrice the one that is missing? If so, where is she? --The 1920 Census shows Albert, Mary, and the children, adding Dorothy, living in Spokane. Mary's parents identified as both born in Missouri-not Ireland. I was hoping to see Beatrice living with them. In the 1910 Census, I did a search for ANY Beatrice, born Montana, in 1897 plus/minus 2 years and this was about the only potential: The 1910 Census for South Sprague, Lincoln County Beatrice Tingley, adopted daughter, age 12, born in Montana to both parents born in Unknown. Eugene Tingley, head, age 50, married 11 years Julia, age 42, second marriage, mother of 1/1 living. Evan? King? step-son, 27 ---The 1920 Census shows Beatrice M. Tingley in Spokane still living with this family, age 21, born in Montana, father in Pennsylvania, mother in Iowa; but, that was the birth places of Eugene and Julia. This Beatrice is shown as "Daughter", not adopted. --Idaho Marriages 1842 to 1996: Beatrice M. Tingley marries Joseph E. Bakken on 17 Sep 1921 in Sandpoint, Bonner County, Idaho. So the Beatrice found to have been adopted by the Tingley Family did marry Joseph E. Bakken. The 1930 Census for Spokane Beatrice Bakken, age 29(1900/1901), born in Montana to father born in Pennsylvania, mother in Nebraska (Father born in PA still matches Eugene Tingley). Joseph E. Bakken, 31(circa 1898/1899), born in Minnesota to both parents born Norway, attorney. --Census errors are frequent, but this Beatrice was born about 3-4 years before the one in Spokane in the 1930 Census. --The Washington Death Certificate Index shows a Joseph E. Bakken, died 8 December 1958 in Seattle, age 61 years, son of Esten Bakken and Kjersten Strand. --The 1900 Census for Minneapolis, Hennepin Co, Minnesota J.E. Bakken, born Feb 1865 in Norway Christie, born Aug 1869 in Norway Joseph, born Mar 1897 in Minnesota. Now, we have established a Beatrice, adopted daughter of Tingley, married a Joseph E. Bakken and lived in Spokane. However, there is no proof that this Beatrice was the Beatrice Vantine; however there is enough search criteria to strongly suspect this to be true. I find nothing on her past the 1930 Census. His info is limited to his death date. You identified "This cousin lived at 2202 West Broadway in 1937." Is this address KNOWN to be the address for your KNOWN cousin? Or, did you find a Beatrice Bakken at that address in a 1937 City Directory? This "could" be the wife/former wife of the Joseph Bakken identified above. Your source of the information is what is important. A review of the annual directories of Spokane (Polks) of 1937 forward could identify when this couple "disappeared" in that area. But, they could have disappeared by moving to any possible location, death of her, etc. Marietta died 11 Sep 1955 in Buena Park, CA, per a family tree found on Ancestry. It did not show any children except Henry, and no information on him. Three family trees showing Beatrice had no further information than born in Jan 1897. I would suggest obtaining Marietta's obituary, it "should" identify the location of her surviving children, if surviving. Brother George H. Vantine, born 6 Oct 1899, died 22 Jan 1990 in Spokane. Attempt to obtain his obituary via the below method. His death information identified his SSN was issued in California. The CA Divorce records shows a divorce in 1974 from Susan M. Stone in San Diego County. Idaho Marriage index shows a marriage to a Rosetta L. Watts on 7 May 1923 in Coeur D'Alene, Kootenai Co, ID. (Many in WA went to Idaho as there was no waiting period). I would suggest attempt to obtain the obituary of Joseph E. Bakken, death on 8 Dec 1958 in Seattle. It might indicate some information on Beatrice; however her obituary would be more helpful if any information can be found on her. --The Washington State Library has a free research service, the ask-a-librarian program, where they will look for information in the archives, in this case the newspaper microfilm for an event, such as an obituary. They will look up to an hour and send you the results. Contact them at: http://www.secstate.wa.gov/library/ask.aspx . Spokane Superior Court would hold any divorce records. The County Recorder would hold marriage records... But, both are future research techniques. Try the obits first. I have through my searches for Anna Lebacken have come across other members of this family. I do know that Anna married Halvor Vettleson about 1906 as her name on the 1906 census for Humboldt sub district 23 Sask. Canada is Anna Vettleson and daughter Ruth. Warner for some odd reason is not listed with them. Then in the 1911 Canada census for Prince Albert Sask.district 212 sub-district 21 Anna Vettleson, Warner Lebacken and Ruth Vettleson are listed. I do not understand why Ruth has the Vettleson surname name here, Then on the 1916 census for Sask Canada, Ruth is listed as married to Svenke Svenkenson and by this time they have a son named Clifton Stanley Svenkenson. In my searches I think Svenke Svenkenson came from the Marshall County , Holt Minnesota area. which is the area where Anna Lebacken lived with her brother Nikolai Dahl in the 1900 census. I have not found Anna (Lebacken) Vettleson on the 1916 census yet. Also If I have the right Svenke Svenkenson he was drafted in World Was 1 as indicated on a draft registration card in 1918 where at this time his permanent home address is listed as living back in Marshall county Minnesota.also of interest the card asks for the nearest relative, Svenke wrote Gunsten Svenkenson of Weldon Saskatchewan. Gunsten would be Svenke's father. This whole Svenkenson family did live at one time according to the Minnesota 1895 state census in Marshall County Minnesota. So by 1918 does that mean Svenke and Ruth seperated? By the 1920 census Ruth age 25, Clifton 3 and Juneus 2 is listed as living with her mother Anna Vettleson in Spokane WA as roomers of Nephi and Rose Pearce. I am not sure how Anna, Ruth and the Pearce's know each other. Don't know what happened to Svenke by 1920, possibly died in WWI. I know nothing about Anna Vettleson, Ruth or her children after the 1920 census. I do know Warner Atlanter married Anna Kross. Warner died in 1953 in Valleyview Alberta and Irene died 1950 in Prince Albert Saskatchewan. Most of my researching has been focused on Anna Lebacken as she was married for about 4 years to my ancestor Halvor Vettleson. Ruth after 1920 very well could have remarried. as well as her mother Anna. I haven't really tried to find Ruth's 2 children in fact I am not sure if Juneus is a male or female. And I do agree the "k" was dropped and they went by the surname Swenson. I hope this helps you some. Darrel Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
