Author: pjmcg5 Surnames: Poorman Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.washington.counties.spokane/5817.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: RBestrom7380: Thanks! I don't know when Jessie Poorman moved to Spokane. I don't know if he was married before or after his move. No information on his wife other than first name Edith. I have not obtained any obituaries. Family tradition is that he was born and lived in Indiana then moved to Spokane, Washington. Jessie Poorman b. 1879. I have a photo of him with wife, but it may have been sent to Indiana from Spokane or elsewhere. No I have not traced them in Census, I don't subscribe to any of the pay sites. Another researcher was kind enough to tell me he died Spokane City, 2-13-1941, from the The WA Death Index. I did not know the family ever resided in MN, so I am glad to discover that. Maybe family tradition got a little mixed up. Regarding the Washington State Library should I only ask for one name in the look up with dates I can provide? Some libraries only want one request. Thanks for the advice on where to search and your tips. I appreciate your time and effort. Pat Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Married at the time? Have you traced the family via census through 1930, obtained obituaries? Do you know when he died? Any wife information? Basically what do you know about him and potential family. A good website for posting: http://www.tedpack.org/goodpost.html The 1930 Census for Spokane, Spokane Co, owning at 608 White Street. Jesse O. Poorman, age 57, born in Indiana to both parents born in Ohio Edith A, 47, born in Minnesota to father born in Indiana, mother in OH Kermit E, 26, born in MN Clarice 23, MN Marjorie, 17, WA Washington Death Index: Jesse Poorman, died 13 Feb 1941 in Spokane. Social Security Death Index: Kermit Poorman, born 4 Mar 1904, died Feb 1969, identified as "last residence" in Spokane; however the "last residence" on the SSDI is not always where the person actually lived. The obit for Jesse might have married names for daughters and locations: The Washington State Library has a free research service, the ask-a-librarian program, where they will look for information in the archives, in this case the newspaper microfilm for an event. 1. [WASPOKAN] SUNDBY Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Bertha SUNDBY which was taken at the Elite Studio in Spokane, Washington. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1900's with Bertha appearing to be in her teens or 20's at the time it was taken. I am hoping to locate someone from this SUNDBY Family so that this wonderful old treasure can be returned to the care of her family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Thanks for taking the time. You were quite busy! Yes I did have some of this information, though some of the addresses and finer details I didn't. My grandmother is Anna(first wife) & Mathew's granddaughter by Anna and Calvin Cousins. I'm trying to trace the family back to Ireland and frankly getting stumped. Reviewing what you have I find you have the same issue with Matthew- his birth place and date change almost every census, so I'm having issue tracking where he was before his marriage in St. Louis. As for Anastasia Hickey, she actually died in Missouri in 1892 shortly after Anna was born. She was buried with a previous child in Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. I have Newspaper clippings from the St. Louis Post for her death, Obituary and Johanna's(previous child between Edward and Katherine) death notice. I am awaiting a reply from the Catholic church in St. Louis for any marriage, witnesses, family listing or otherwise related to this family they may have on file from their church. I'll see what I can do about tracking down the obituaries. Thank you again! Patti Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. You may have all of this, I didn't and needed it for research. It strongly appears Matthew was married twice. First, to an Anastasia/Stacie/Stacia, who may have divorced and lived past the date of Matthew's second marriage. From my other posting, I'd suggest you request the obits for all of the persons identified below. If you have more information on the individuals, you should post that. Since you indicated your grandmother had died, you probably should identify if she is one of the listed family members. The 1900 Census for Chicago, Cook Co, IL, enumerated 2 June.
