Paul and Henrietta were both originally from Prussia and first lived in Minnesota and then came to Spokane in 1884. Henrietta was Paul's third wife and they had 5 children: William, Annie, Carl, Paul, and Louis. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! I've "rescued" an old photograph of Carl and Blanch RACUS which was taken at the J. H. Barnes Studio in Severy, Kansas. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with the two about 1-4 years old at the time. Based on limited research and thanks to the assistance of a RACUS Family Researcher I was able to gather the following information: Carl A. RACUS was b. 24 Sept 1904 in KS to parents Elmer RACUS and Gertrude E. RACUS. Carl married Violet BROWER (b. 9 Nov 1906) on 30 Jul 1926 in Wenatchee, WA. Carl died in Jan 1984 in Wenatchee, WA. Carl and Violet had three children, Ella Marie; Charles; and Edward Arden RACUS. Ella Marie married into the DENNEY family and lived in Spokane while the two boys remained in Wenatchee, WA. Blanche Iris RACUS was b. 29 Aug 1907 and died 27 Dec 1909 in Severy, KS. Census records provide the following: 1910 census of Twin Groves, KS: Elmer RACUS, age 26, born KS Gerture E. RACUS, age 25, born IN Carl A. RACUS, age 5, born KS Cecil G. BARNETT, age 17 1920 census of Douglas Co., WA: Elmer RACUS, age 35, born KS Gertrude RACUS, age 35, born IN Carl RACUS, age 15, born KS Emmett RACUS, age 9 years + 11 months Lavonne RACUS, age 1 year + 2 months Garry BARRETT, age 24 I am hoping to return this photograph to someone in the family and would appreciate your contacting me if you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be. Thank you, Shelley

From the 1930 census information: Kermit age 26 and Clarice age 23 both born MN, and Marjorie age 17 b. WA, you can narrow down when they moved to WA by these ages to a 6-7 year time span. Look for them in 1910. I guessing Jess and Edith married in Minnesota. 1920 census they are in Spokane WA. He is a motorman for street railway. There is an oldest daughter named Jessie A. who is 17 yrs old b. MN. Jessie A [dau] married J. Arthur Thomas of Spokane 6 June 1920 per WA digital archives [free]. You can see the marriage certificate there. http://media.digitalarchives.wa.gov/WA.Media/jpeg/BA10D5080C587575ECADA3A8E8C9F4AA_1.jpg 1910 they are in Stevens Co WA, just north of Spokane Co. WWI draft registration card: middle name is Orlando; dob 15 Mar 1879. With the above dates, etc, we can deduce that they moved to WA between 1907 [when Clarice was born] and 1910. Regarding census records. Check your local library to see if they have ProQuest census records. If so, all you need is a library card to access. Free. Further research at WA digital archives: Clarice m. Harry L. Olinger, 20 May 1938 in Spokane; Marjorie m. John W. King [cpl] 6 Dec 1943 in Spokane; Kermit C. m1/ Ethel Elizabeth 7 May 1933, m2/ Elsie C Weaver 26 Oct 1955. Edith Alea Poorman d. 4 Nov 1956 Spokane, her parents listed as Jacob Goodman and Martha Limbert. I urge you to look at this website: http://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/ It's free. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Frank M. BARRETT and his cousin Yancey GRIFFIN which was taken at the Milton Loryea Studio in Spokane, Washington.
