    1. [WASPOKANE] Need Tosh info
    2. Terry & Eunice
    3. I have not belonged to this list long. I am in Oklahoma and Washington state is a long way off. My ggrandfather William M Tosh died in Spokane, Washington on Jan 13, 1912. I have written to the Bureau of Vital Statistics and have a certificate of death. He is buried in Greenwood 1-15-13. The informant is M. Tosh address E 2028 Masselta (not sure of the spelling). His wife was Mary Wadsworth Tosh so I suppose this was this wife. I am wondering if anyone could do an orbit look up. If they are available for this early. Also I am wondering if there is any family left out there. Would really like to contact them also. My Mother tells me that Grandma Tosh married a Mr. Gaines after the death of Grandpa Tosh and they lived in Washington. I have found that in 1919 Mary J. Tosh was a widow from the civil war and applied for a widows pension from Ill. Do not know if she had to be in Ill. to do this or not. She did not receive the pension. Any information, advice or references will be greatly appreciated. Eunice Aldrich taldrich@ptsi.net

    1. [WASPOKANE] re:BLM Site back up and running - website
    2. Dorothy Hosking Huntley
    3. To answer questions that I've received about the site ... It doesn't have a genealogy page. I use it to place my family members in a certain location at a certain time. For instance, I knew the names of my husband's ggrandparents and that their boys were born in South Dakota. So I looked for HUNDLEY in South Dakota and happened to find his ggrandmother's name as a homesteader. This gave me the location (township, range, etc) and year of proof of claims. From there I have been able to contact the county assessor, received a map of the county with townships from the state school office, been in contact with the current owners who are sending pictures (the land has been in their family since ggrandmother lost it to the bank). It also places ggrandparents in a certain location for a certain number of years. I sent for the homestead paperwork (about umpteen dozen pages!) and gained an insight into ggrandmother. She started the claim on her own after being widowed by her first husband. Finding this information broke a HUGE wall for me and connected me with all the other HUNDLEYs after a lot of other searches that were created by this information. I also sent for three sets of papers on my family in Coos county, Oregon and the paperwork for my children's father's family in eastern Washington. That wheat ranch has been in the family for five generations. Keep in mind, it's hit or miss, and maybe mostly miss. Not all of our ancestors filed for homesteads. But when they did, it's a ripe place for information. Good hunting! Dot Hosking Huntley in SW Oregon ===================== Sorry about that! 1. [WASPOKANE] Car Accident Information
    2. My uncle was killed in an auto accident in September 1949. Are there newspaper articles or police reports from back that far that can be researched? I haven't found a death certificate yet, so I don't know the exact date, but am positive about the month. His name is Lee Edward Walker. He was 24 years old and was the only one in the car that was killed. The rest of the guys in the car were uninjured. If anyone is familiar with this, or can do a lookup, or direct me to someone who can, I would appreciate very much. Thank you in advance. Shelly Chance Galloway

Do you think this one existed that early? Several places I have written such as the Hutton Settlement didn't exist until 1919. But this one is listed in the directories, and would seem to have not been any other name until it evolved into what is now the Children's Home Society in WA., at Spokane, with branches in other locations. However I will follow up the name you have given me, all clues are welcome. Again Thank You, Mary Gilmore

    3. Hello, If you are referring to 411 S. Pines in the Spokane Valley, it cannot be seen from the freeway ( I-90). This address is 4.5 blocks south of Sprague Ave. in Opportunity Township. I do not believe that there is a church there now. In my youth, there may have been a Lutheran church there, but I cannot remember. If this is where you are talking about I can contact my dad. He may know the answer. Please contact me if you wish me to pursue this farther. Dale T.
