    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3BC.2ACE/1693.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Pam: I don't know anything about the McLeods, other than what was written in the article, here is what it said: In the book "Toil, Tears and Triumph, A History of Kincardine Township," there is only one indexed reference to the name. In a passage describing the family of Alexander McLeod Jr. and his wife Johanna McLeod (that was her maiden name too), it lists their children. One of the children was a daughter Margaret who "married a Vanderwater, and lived in Spokane." This would be in Washington state of course When someone sent this to me I thought the Vanderwater was James Colborne as I stated in the message, as his family was the only Vanderwater family in Kincardine. I have in the last couple of days learned that it probably wasn't James, likely a Vanderwater from another line. Serves me right for jumping to conclusions. As for the McLeods, I know there a couple of McLeod researchers listed either at the Bruce Co. site or at the general Ontario site of GenWeb. I know there is someone at the Bruce Co. site who will do look-ups for that book, so maybe your McLeods are listed. I know there were quite a few McLeods there. Sorry I couldn't help more, Willie

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/3BC.2ACE/1729.2.2 Message Board Post: Charles, Don't forget the Peone Indian tribe, right in our backyard. Peone Prairie is named for that tribe (as I know Charles knows, but as general interest), and the area is located about 8-10 miles NE of the city of Spokane. I don't remember which of the Catholic priests were particularly associated with the Peone Indians, but it was either Father DeSmet or Father Cataldo (I seem to think it was DeSmet). At any rate, DeSmet and Cataldo, Idaho were both named for these Roman Cathlic priests, as well as some other historic locations around the region. FYI.
