    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3BC.2ACE/1957 Message Board Post: Our family is attemtpting to retrace our roots. With the death this week of one of the few remaining elder uncles, we still do not have much definitive information on our family history. Specifically, we are trying to locate when James and Florene Davis were married. Florene's maiden name was "Hurst" and we have some sketchy information that she came from the south/eastern United States where her family, "Hurst" owned a plantation. We know they were married in Spokane, but do not have any specific dates. The time period may have been somewehere before 1900 (1880's and forward) or sometime right after 1900. If anyone has any information regarding this or please provide us novices on how to start this challenging process to uncover the family history, we would be forever grateful!. Thank you very much, Charlie Howell

    3. You can either contact County Clerk, Spokane County Courthouse, 1116 W. Broadway Avenue, Spokane, WA 99260-0001 (phone 509-456-2211) or contact Eastern Washington Genealogical Society website. 3. Jim The county has the divorce records from the 1880s to the present. The clerk on the third floor has the index to the case number, then you head across Broadway to the archives, and they have the earlier cases on microfilm. You can view for free, but copies are $2 for the first page and then a dollar a page after that. Payment is back in the clerks office. Remember also a lot of Spokane people went to Lincoln county for divorces and they still do. 3. Jim, For a divorce that took place in 1910, go to http://www.vitalcheck.com, click on the state of Washington, then click on "All," and scroll to Divorces. There you will have the opportunity to order online or by FAX. There may be less expensive ways to obtain divorce records, but this is one efficient way to do it.
