Shmaus, age 81, died Monday afternoon at Broadacres where he had been for the past week. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at the Catholic church in Cheney, with the Reverad J. M. Leclerc officiating. Burial was in the Marshall Cemetery. Mr. Shmaus came to Four Lakes in 1908, where he operated a store for 12 years. On September 20, 1921, he married Mrs. Susan M. Nix at Yakima and returned to Four Lakes where he has since resided on his farm. For the past 17 months he has been suffering from ill health. Before coming to Four Lakes, Mr. Shmaus lived in the Eastern states, homesteaded at Ione, Washington, and later lived on a wheat ranch in the Palouse country. He was born in Altenmarkt Germany and came to America in July 1883. The deceased was a member of the Cheney Catholic church and the Four Lakes Grange. He is survived by his wife at the home and a nephew, Frank Shmaus of Kaeremeous, B. C. I'm not related to this person.

The cover said it was the Spokemans review and in it papers from 1 AUG 1905 to 31 AUG 1905 I beileve it was $150.00 canadian. John was born on February 1864 in Bavaria Germany his wife Mary Anna was born in 1962 also in Bavaria Germany. John P Stitzer died between 1920 & 1930. and his wife after 1930. We estimated these dates by using the 1920 and 1930 census. Also would like to know what cemetery Peter and Mary Anna are buried in.
