Out by the Lincoln/Spokane county lines, just south of Long Lake that borders Stevens County. We moved out here from town about 1998. I grew up out on the west plains. Went to Cheney school dist. My email address is [email protected] if you'd like to chat, maybe about genealogy. My mother's family settled in Asotin, WA and Orofino, Idaho. I was raised by a divorced father and did not know about my mother's family residing in the Palouse and in the Clarkston areas until I had a family of my own. My foster Mother, born and raised in the Palouse, has been a great help to me in telling about the people she knew that are buried at the Tekoa's Goldenrod Cemetery whom I am related to in some way. When there I would pass the grave of a Clara Belle Sumpter and wonder who she was, she rest next to a Lester Sumpter. New years day 2007 I found a funeral notice in a trunk that had been shut for 37 years. Along with this paper I found my big brother's baby book. The family tree in the baby book has Clara Sumpter as a Great grandmother. That Sumpter last name is a bit difficult, unusual. But how she ties into my grandfather Hubert Elwood Taylor makes me wonder. What happened to Hubert's father? Is Clara Hubert's Mother? Anyway, Thank You for your reply. It was nice to hear from you. Take Care, Christina

It's nice to make your aquaintence. Some of their kids went to school with my older siblings. and we got to know them a little better when our horses got out and the countryman caught them and gave us a call. That must have been about 1978 or 1979, somewhere around there. I'll tell ya what, I will give them a call and let them know there is being research done on the name countryman on ancestry and see if they're interested. ttfn Chris

I am searching for info about my grandmother and her Dickens relations. Her name is Florence L. Dickens, born ?Wisc. married grandpa Harry William Davis the year 1915 or 1916. Florence was born around 1897. 1930 Census states she was born in Wisc. Having a hard time finding her and her family. I know her father's name from her cemetery statement. See, she died her in Spokane. Her father's name on the census, is Elsworth Dickins. On this paper it spelled her last name Dickens and her father's Dickins. Said she was from Wisconsin too. Do you know about her? It is still very cold over here. Snow on the ground is hard. it is starting to snow again. Hope this helps you. Are you a Dickens descendant also? if so contacted me thru my email address, [email protected] Good luck, Christina

Thanks so much for your reply to Arlene as I can only really thank her a lot for doing all of this. Betty

The person I finally found who was related to Mary Katharine was a man from Utah named Bill Deardorff. We sent all of Mary's photos and personal belongings to Bill a few years ago. He was thrilled to receive them as his father was a brother to Mary's Dad and the family had lost contact. He found photos of himself, his parents, and grandparents among the pictures. I don't know if any of the Countrymans in your area are related, but there is a good chance because that was where Mary grew up and worked as an adult. If you know any of that family, please let them know where her belongings went. I think Bill's dad was the brother who was a physician. Not positive, though. I only knew Mary though the church in the Olympia area where my husband was an associate pastor and no one knew of any survivors of Mary when she died, so we ended up with a few of her things, including her hope chest filled with treasures: letters, photos, a book of family history written for family reunions, etc. We sent the hope chest contents to Bill. Thanks again. Sincerely, Arlee Volz
