Melander was born 9 Oct 1921 and died 11 Aug 1993 in Sacramento, California. His brother, Paul, was born 22 Nov 1918 and died 9 Feb 2003 in Littleton, Colorado. Looking at an online telephone directory for Littleton, Colorao, there is a Grace Melander listed. She is the only Melander that came up. Maybe she can help you. Thankyou. I can give you a little information on Elizabeth Wood and David Scott. Both were born in Scotland. Elizabeth was my husbands g. grandmother and my mother-in-law believed David was her g.grandfather. I learned after Mom's passing that David was a second husband. Her first was John Wilson born in Sweden. Those two are very elusive. I did find all of them in the 1880 US census in Dutch Flat, Placer County, CA. Etta and Nellie were the daughters of this John Wilson. Nellie married Eli McDowell but died without any children. Etta married Carl Peterson who was born in Denmark.Etta died of tuberculosis when my mother-in-law was very young, so mom had very little information about her parents and grandparents. I have Davids BLM homestead records and there is no mention of any relations. It would be nice to find some. I don't know who Ruth DeChand was, but I know I have heard her name, so I bet she was related. Etta, also, was married before Carl and had a daughter who died before I met her. I have no information about the McCrea family. Let me know if this ws any help or if you find out anything else about the Wood/ Scotts. I was just at the cemetery today, looking for Scott surname. I knew one was there, yes it is this Sergt. David Scott. Could anyone help me here? Who were David's people? My Great-Great-Grandmother, Sarah Jane Scott Irwin is buried in the Tekoa, Washington cemetery. She came up from Calif. I noticed David is an 6 Cal.(Calif.) INF. So I ask could there be a connection somewhere there? These are my mother's people, and I did not get to grow up with my bio mother. Instead I found a wonderful Foster Mom out in Fairfield, Virginia and Lloyd are just wonderful! And wow does she know the Palouse. So can anyone help me with David Scott/ Also, there are two Elizabeth Scott's. One is born 1844, died 1899. This is the one next to Sergt. David Scott, Co. F. 6 CAL. INF.. Also next to this Elizabeth Scott is, Nellie McDowell, born 1876 died 1901. AND Ruth DeChand born 1899 died 1918. Are these three ladies sisters? Stretching it a bit I think to be sisters, maybe with a step sister thrown in? An Etta Petersen born January 29, 1874, died Jan. 20, 1917 is at the end row, starting with David, w/ three sisters in middle, Etta on the end(north end) The west edge of this small cement curbed lot is Eli W. McDowell bor 1866, died 1943. But to the east of all this is another Eli W. McDowell Born 1838, died 1907? Who is this? And are they relation to David Scott? Next to Eli W. that was born 1838-1907 is an Marion McDowell Russell b 1920-1987. Are these McDowell's related to These Scott's? Lastly, but not least, Does any one know anything about the McCrea people buried at the West Greenwood Cemetery. This Cemetery is out by the Lincoln/Spokane co. line. The McRea/ McCrea is my husband's mother's people. Thank You all. Peace on EARTH Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. I posted this many years ago, but I see that it's not archived at rootsweb, so I'm posting it again. This is not my family, but my great aunt was their bookkeeper, so someone in the family clipped it. Spokesman Review, Spokane, Washington (no date): "Two Score Years of Happiness". Mr. and Mrs. Doerr Celebrate Fortieth Anniversary--Here 27 Years. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Doerr, Jefferson apartments, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversay Sunday at the home of the son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mr. E.A. Egge. Mr. and Mrs. Doerr, who have been residents of Spokane for 27 years, were married February 15, 1885, at New York city and went to Germany, their native country, on a honeymoon. "The joys of married life far out-balance the troubles in this everyday span of life," said Mr. Doerr, who was one of the pioneer electrical contactors in Spokkane. "I want to work as long as I'm able, for there is mischief sometimes for idle hands, but this is not so pronounced in those who have passed the 60-year mark as it is among younger people." Mrs. Doerr is shown, holding a granddaughter, Betty Jane Egge, age 1 year, whose birthday is also February 15. (includes photo of Mr. Doerr and one of Mrs. Doerr with Betty)
