    1. Re: [WASPOKAN] Looking for obit on Carl Schubach in Spokane, WA
    2. Charles Hansen
    3. Cynthia Carl Schubach does not appear in the WA Death index from 1965-1997 nor in our obit index at the library from the 1950s to 1979. Our index does miss some people, but the WA Death index should have everyone that died in Washington. Can you find a better date or place of death? The forwarding address database is a great tool. I feel guilty for asking you to look in it again, but I just thought of another genealogical research question it might help answer for me. Emma Parkers brother, Carl Tuttle and his wife Estelle moved from Tacoma to Spokane and were listed in the 1920 census there. But, Carl apparently moved to Guatemala sometime between 1920 and 1926, as revealed in the obituary for his mother in 1926. So, would you please see if there is a forwarding address for a Carl and Estelle Tuttle in your database. I would dearly like to find out what he was doing in Guatemala. Author: cmhansen Surnames: Parker Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.washington.counties.spokane/5480.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: John The Postal forwarding addresses were done by our local post office and as far as we can tell it is unique to the Spokane area. The post office took apart city directories and added 5 blank lined pages which they wrote the names of the people who had mail forwarded and the date it was forwarded then put the books back together about an inch thick so each year may have 10 books. There was a ; between W.O. and Mrs. so that means both people moved to Tacoma. He was not listed after 1912 in our city directories. I did check the obit file for Spokane, and while it is no where near complete, but no William Parker and none listed in the WA Death index for Spokane. Author: northwestpioneer Surnames: Parker Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.washington.counties.spokane/5480.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Charles: Thanks for your time and effort. I am curious where you found the forwarding address for Mrs. Parker, as I am unfamiliar with this type of record. Was it something done locally only for the Spokane area, or are they a public record somewhere? Anyway, if it is her, which it probably is, then she was possibly still married to Parker when she returned to Tacoma. A quick search of the Tacoma Public Library obituary database does show a William O. Parker deceased in 1963 (Soundex Code:P626), which would make him quite old, but still a possibility. I will get his obit and see. Did you by any chance look in the obit index for the Spokane newspapers at the Spokane library for a Parker? I did a quick search of the Tacoma Historical Buildings site, but didn't find a California Building, but I will have to dig deeper into it when I have the time. This is really a big help, because now I have a time frame to narrow my search for events in Tacoma. I have been spending a lot of time looking through old Tacoma newspaper microfilms and occasionally find what I need. It will be nice when they get all the old papers on the internet, hopefully before my eyes go! Thanks, John Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
