    3. Ghost Alert ! Some of you will recall my articles re the "Ghost Sightings" of my long time friend, Catharine McMurchey ( or y). Just the other day, as I was driving, it occurred to me that nothing has come out in the Herald, or Tribune about ghost sightings in our new 8 million $ library in Snohomish, or in the old Carnegie Library where her ghost had been the subject of newspapers, and TV coverage. I reported on the mix-up in identification of pictures of Miss Murchey showing pictures of her sister, Anna. I have, yet, to see a picture of Catharine, except when she was very young and shown with her sisters. It must be ESP, but in this morning's Herald, front page, was a familiar picture of the huge Victorian house with cupulo ground to garret round column with the label in red "GHOST ALLEY". It seems that "Some Snohomish residents are convinced their homes are haunted." as part of the caption under the color pix of said house. But, we must wait for Tuesday's Herald to read what has been written re this topic. I relish reading this article for a number of reasons: I was born in Snohomish in 1924, and I continued to live here over 25 yrs. when I got married. I would have known about ghosts in Snohomish, as the news traveled fast in Snohomish, even w/o wires, phones, etc. As kids, we used to fantasize about certain houses (usually empty ones) being "haunted" but we would have know if they really were. Isn't it interesting how these stories become concocted to fit the "Season" of Hallow'd Evening, or Halloween. The attention of some becomes focused on an idea, and the idea(s) come to fruition via the mind games we play with each other. What Other "mind games" are being played for you these days - won't you be glad when we have to face Reality, again! I will write and make ref to the article in The Herald when it comes out tomorrow in the paper. You know, we all must become "psyched out" on such matters so that we will be informed as to what goes on in such old places as Snohomish. I wonder what they have going for them in Mukilteo, or Monroe, or Index? Don't they have ghosts in other places, or are they all back in New England, or England, etc. Do I believe in ghosts? Not as yet, but I put the idea of that phenomena up on my "shelf" uintil I have enough evidence to say that I do or do not. I do know that some very weird things have happened to me since I've been into Genealogy. So much so that I wrote to you using the Subject - "They Want to Be Found". It has happened so often that it makes me wonder - as it seems much more than coincidence that this phenomena persisits. I like it, as when I "give up" on something genealogically related, it suddenly "comes to me" via mail, e-mail, and various ways that are not "explainable" or "readily understood". A number of you wrote to me with your experiences along this line, so it is not just myself who experiences this "happening" which we cannot explain. I had an Aunt who lived to be 101 yrs. and she and I often had this unusual experience of ESP-like communications. Her daughter, who used to baby-sit me is now 10 yrs older than me, aged 90, still drives, lives by herself in her own home in Seattle. She and I have had the same ESP-like experiences and we communicate this phenomena when we talk to each other on the phone. Paranormal phenomena is interesting but not all of us relate to it easily. I think of this when I watch the weather forcasts, then what really happens. I got quite a kick out of our tour of KOMO studios, broadcast AM-FM, and TV. When we saw the Weather forecaster's modules, there was a brand new copy of the Farmer's Almanac on each forecaster's desk! This brought chuckles to our mind-boggled minds as we saw what goes on behind the scenes of a first class radio/TV station. This tongue-in-cheek goes on among all the stations that produce our entertainment. Watch for "Snohomish Ghost-to-Ghost" reporting as our ancestors may be watching us - they must be amazed at what they perceive! Happy Halloween! And for those who see the other side of the coin -Happy ________! Carroll in Snohomish. * * * 30 * * *
