Calkins, 77 years old died Wednesday evening at the family home at 5113 Rockefeller ave. He had resided in Everett for the last twelve years and was employed at Eclipse mill. Mr. Calkins was a member of Pilgrim Lodge No 187, IOOF, and John Buford post of the G.A.R. He enlisted October 12, 1864 in Company B Halls independent battalion volunteers of sharpshooters and was honorably discharged July 28 1865 at Jackson, MI. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Margaret Calkins and a daughter, Miss Rose Calkins at home, a daughter Mrs. Edward Castner of Seattle and three sons James W., Percy L. and William Willard residing in Everett. Funeral service will be held at the chapel of Challacombe Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock the Rev. H.C. Leland of the First Baptist church officiating. Burial will be in charge of Odd Fellows and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Funeral records state Caleb W. Calkins died 3/3/1926 born 8/20/1848 fathers name was Harrison C. and mother was Eliza both of USA. Caleb W. Calkins enlisted at age 18 with Halls Indpt SS Heavy Artillery Com B and also with 1st MI SS Co. I he requested pension from this service in 1893 from the state of NV. Margaret A. Calkins requested pension at his death from WA.
