    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Laz, Laznovsky, Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VEC.2ACI/3790 Message Board Post: Bob Laz died April 21, 2005, at home in Snohomish, Washington, after suffering from pulmonary fibrosis for many years. He was 92. Bob and his twin brother, George, were born March 7, 1913, in Chicago, Illinois, to Emil and Bessie Laznovsky. Bob and George moved to Flowing Lake in 1946, and with the help of their brother, Buddy, began building Wonderland Park Resort. After much blood, sweat and tears, the resort opened in April of 1950. Due to lack of consistent sunshine, the resort closed in 1960. Bob later chronicled those years in the book "The Epic of Wonderland Park". By the time the park closed, the brothers had begun a new business venture, Laz Tool and Manufacturing, which began in 1959 with George as the first employee, and Bob joining soon after. They successfully ran "The Shop", as family and friends called it, for many years, and the business continues today. The Laz brothers trained many people to become machinist, including many work-release inmates of the Monroe Reformatory. It was Bob and George's firm belief that training and education were the keys to a bright future. In the late 1970'! s, Bob and George began Wonderland Tree Farm. But Bob's big dream was to own an 18-hole golf course. This was realized in 1991, when Bob and his sons (with a lot of help from friends) started developing Flowing Lake Golf Course. The Golf Course officially opened in 1995 and is still prospering today. Bob was known far and wide as a very liberal Democrat who shared his opinions with anyone who would listen. His letters to the editors of local newspapers always generated comments, and at times, controversy. He was a very compassionate man who was devoted to helping those less fortunate. He generously contributed to various causes and one of his most rewarding associations was with the Kiwanis. Bob had many passions in life, and he particularly enjoyed boating, fishing and crabbing. Many happy hours were spent with family and friends in pursuit of the elusive "big one". Bob's youthful dreams were to live on the water, own a large boat and to have his own golf course, and he counted himself very lucky that he was able to achieve these dreams. Bob is survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, Buddy; sister, Dodo; many nieces and nephews; extended family members; as well as a wealth of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, George; and his beloved wife, Sis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's name to the Snohomish Food Bank, P.O. Box 1364, Snohomish 98291; Sky Valley Food Bank, P.O. Box 724, Monroe; or Snohomish County Center for Battered Women, P.O. Box 7, Everett 98206. Graveside inurnment services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 6, at G.A.R. Cemetery in Snohomish. Arrangements for cremation by Bauer Funeral Chapel, Snohomish.
