He was 39. Born in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 14, 1965, he graduated from high school in Newport, Ore., in 1983. In 1987, he received a bachelor's degree from Life Bible College in California and was ordained with the Foursquare Church. He met his wife at LBC and they married in Woodburn, Ore., on June 28, 1986. He was a pilot for 20 years and for the last seven years was a rescue helicopter pilot for Airlift Northwest. He was an active leader and member of Warm Beach Community Church in Stanwood, Wash. His family says his passions in life were Christian missions, building, flying, karate and writing for magazines. He was very involved with his children and loved his wife dearly. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Carol; and his children, Emily, Abigail, Nathaniel and Elizabeth. He is further survived by his father, Don Paul of Kauai, Hawaii; his mother, Marianne Springer of Davis; his sisters, Janet Peiffer of Rocklin and Judy Weitz of Kailua, Hawaii; brother, Kevin Springer of Fountain Valley; and grandmother Verna Springer of San Clemente. A memorial service was Saturday, Dec. 4, in Arlington, Wash. Burial was in Davis on Tuesday, Dec. 7. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund for his children is being established through Warm Beach Community Church, 9620 188th St. NW, Stanwood, WA 98292.
