From time to time, I have written articles to these bulletins, sharing and hoping that someone "out there" might see my refs. and respond to them. Well, this has "paid off" several times via the rootsweb system, initially. Below is the latest example of this sort of phenomena that happens when you "play clues" or make it known that you are seeking others to share the gen. I had had some clues re this "Archibald Joel Clark and Laura Ann Saar" from many sources, including their marriage license, handwritten which I have had from when I began doing gen. back in the 1980s. A Kent, WA friend (Neely Family Pioneer family) handed it to me when he knew that I'd be interested in it as one of my Clark ancestors. I have tried over the many years to contact the ancestors whom I knew to live in northern Idaho, but w/o any responses from them. So, I "gave up", but I would leave clues by mentioning their ancestral names on the rootsweb bulletins, and it has "paid dirt" well, as can be seen below: ----- Original Message ----- From: Kytonen To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, February 19, 2005 9:00 AM Subject: Clark-Saar genealogy Hello, I recently ran across a bunch of your threads on rootsweb about your Clark family line and I'm happy to tell you that I am also a part of that line! My Clark ancestor branches off with Archibald Joel Clark and Laura Ann Saar (my great-great grandparents). Their daughter Roberta Louise Clark, or "Birdie", (my great-grandmother) married Wayne Lafayette Bolkcom. Wayne and Birdie has four children, one of which is my grandfather, Milton Bolkcom. I have quite a bit more information on Laura and Archie's ancestors as well as some first-hand accounts from her and stories from other relatives about their lives. If you're interested, just give me a shout and I'll mail them to you! Mail me back to this address if you would: [email protected] Nice talking to you--- Sincerely, Anna Kytonen * * * To Clarify - Anna goes back from Archibald Jason Clark to Jason S. Clark (Jason SQUIRE Clark) our Common Ancestor who came by ox team IN>OR over the Oregon Trail in 1847; OR>WA Territory 1865 (now Kent, WA) among the Founders of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Kent. I replied to Ann's most welcomed note, above, and she immediately sent me her line going back to the very Archibald Joel CLARK m. Laura Ann SAAR, her Grt Grt GndParents. She really filled in the gap, admirably, with data I relished - a whole branch that had been missing all these years. (Kent, WA Pioneer families) I had visited the SAAR Cemetery near Kent, WA in the '80s. I found via the late JOHN SLONIKER, bless his soul for his contributions to all of us with his undaunting Help! - I found out that Peter SAAR was not buried in the Saar Cem. in Kent that I visited but another cem. I haven't pursued Saar Gen as I have been occupied by my other lines. Anna surprised me when I learned that she was age 17 and just finishing high school so that she can strive toward her future. What a wonderful + for a girl her age to be highly interested in genealogy, but she loves researching and apparently she has taken her parents gen. and is pursuing it tenaciously. She has college as a target upon grad. from high school. We will have a ball exchanging info - but what is astounding is that she is a teen aged lady doing gen. and here I am an octagenarian wishing I had started doing gen. at her age, but the computer really does help. I used a lot of shoe learther, gasoline, and pockets full of dimes and nickles gathering my info in Seattle Pub Library,Seattle Gen Soc Library, et al, and trips to Oregon, et al trying to fit pieces of the puzzles together. I admit that I was quite successful. I can say that the Clarks, whose name derivation exposes their occupation with reading and writing over the centuries have lived up to their ancestry by leaving records to be found. (At least mine did!) Wish my SCOTT ancestry was that well recorded - this is where I am stonewalled so far. I hope they WANT TO BE FOUND, and SOON, as I am not getting any younger. Thank you Ann Kytonen, ancestral Cousin to my/our CLARK CLAN. I told her about PSRoots/WASNOHOM & I believe she is or will be aboard these sites. I'm hoping that OTHERS OUT THERE will play the CLUES of the rootsweb system and find your KIN as we have been doing, and we hope to continue to do. To my MANY FRIENDS on these bulletins - I've not forgotten ANY OF YOU but tempus fugit and I just don't get back to YOU ALL ! Good Health and Longevity for, They Want to Be Found.
