    1. DIRECTORIES-By Marge Reid :

    3. I attended a mtg., last week, of the SNO-ISLE GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY, thanks to Victoria Harrington who picked up Patsy Danhof and myself for the trip to a Lynnwood Fire Station where we found a room filled with Avid Seekers of Genealogy. Marge Reid gave an EXCELLENT talk on DIRECTORIES: She was very well organized and prepared for a TALK about a topic that ALL GENEALOGISTS could benefit by. Beginning with the dictionary definitions of the topic word, it became apparent that there was much more to the word DIRECTORIES, or DIRECTORY than definition offered. I think it opened ALL of our EYES as to how involved Directories can be and what a wealth of Information, and Clues that are contained therein. POPE Directories, offered much more for the Family History Buff than one might conider. The List of Abbreviations alone offered a great many LEADS in themselves for Reading the various sections of the directory as an illustration in point. I think that we broadened our views on just what consitutes DIRECTORIES. Marge Reid used a computer controlled projector on an excellent Fire Station Meeting Room screen, thanks to my 4th Cousin, Margaret Summitt who owns this excellent Tool . Marge ALWAYS injects her great sense of HUMOUR (Brit.) into whatever she says, and she didn't short-change us with her presentation on DERECTORIES that evening. Not dry by any means, Marge gave it her ALL and she verbalized the Text that was displayed on the screen so that all could absorb what was being presented. I hope that Marge makes her Informative Message to Genealogy available for all Genealogists to read, as I am sure that they will benefit by it, greatly. After ALL - They Want to Be Found applies here because Marge presented a great Source for the Clues we need to break down those BRICK WALLS. Perhaps I will make use of her e x p e r t i s e in "Shagging Out" my SCOTT FAMILY Ancestry which has alluded me most. Thank You Marge, for your excellent, and informative, EXPOSE' on WHAT A DIRECTORY IS, AND WHAT IT HAS TO OFFER !! Carroll in Snohomish Carroll H.
