Hello, List People - Lyn Blyden asked me to forward this invitation to you all - Regards, Marge What: Hidden Secrets of the National Archives When: Monday, January 12, 2009 Where: Stroum JCC, 3801 East Mercer Way, Mercer Island, WA Description: Everyone knows about the United States census, the military records, and immigration/naturalization records that are among the billions documents at the National Archives. But what about less well known records, like original land patents, records of unique groups (such as Chinese, Indians, bootleggers, and merchant seamen), photograph collections, and even movies? Only a tiny fraction of these documents have been digitized, so there remains a wealth of original materials to discover at YOUR National Archives, found right here in Seattle! Come discover what there is and how to find it. Doors open at 7:00 PM . The JGSWS library will be available . She holds an MA in American Indian Studies (UCLA, 1997) a BA in Elementary Education and Fine Art (1979), and teaching credentials in six states. Prior to her work at the archives, she has been the owner of an American Indian antiques and book store, a professional writer, a professional genealogist, and an elementary school teacher. Her workshops range in topics from beginning and online genealogy to aligning primary documents with state teaching standards.
